Finished a Song 10/12/2024
Oct. 13th, 2024 01:16 amAs usual, today I worked on music.
I woke up, took a shower, and started watching The Amazing Digital Circus. I really really liked it! I don't normally like 3D animation, but I absolutely loved the art style. Pomni and Ragatha are awesome! I love those two characters a lot. I may buy some stickers of that show for my guitar. Speaking of my guitar, my black pickguard gets here tomorrow! I'm really hyped for it. I'm really tired of my gold pickguard since that's the default one that comes with my Squier J Mascis Signature Jazzmaster. A lot of emo musicians buy that Jazzmaster since quite a few of them love Dinosaur Jr, but I got the Jazzmaster not realizing it was a signature. Dinosaur Jr is alright, they're not my particular jam but I can see why people like them, so no shade whatsoever. It's a good guitar though, what can I say? I want to change out the pickguard so it looks different from the other J Mascis guitars, though.
I did get right to work on my music after watching TADC though. Usually when I write music I make it very honest and right to the point. I've spent years making emo music but I'm a pop-punk musician at heart, so I'm trying to make these songs as catchy as possible for this album. Even though I'm focusing more on melodies, riffs, and how catchy the choruses are, there's still a hint of emo and honesty in a lot of the tracks. They're very very angry, to say the least. Funny enough though, I finished a song today that's not angry at all. The song is about being very unlucky, I guess. A lot of the lyrics are about being in iconic slasher/horror films such as Scream, Saw, and Jaws, but always coming out with the worst outcome. Getting killed by Ghostface? Nah, you get hit by an SUV. Being eaten by Jaws? Nah, the boat is a more appealing snack and you end up drowning without a boat. I think it's a pretty fun song. I recycled the riff from an old unreleased Dog For President song called Affluence, which my brother Carson told me was my best riff so hopefully people like the song.
I feel pretty lazy. I spent half the day watching YouTube. I should've put more effort and time into finding a job today, but I finished that song at least. My biggest priority should be/is finding a job, but at least I did something, right? I'm trying really hard to make music work anyways, that's my ultimate long term goal. I have Enter Star Wolf! rehearsals on Wednesday, though. I hope that's gonna go well!
Goodnight!
